Hi Pete. I've thought about adding a real index hole sensor to my 1541. The drive head carrier definitely has a place to put a T1-sized LED and IR detector. Are you aware of any standards for doing this? For wiring it to the VIA, I was thinking of using CA1 on VIA 1 (CPU comms VIA) as the input for the index-sensed flag. That way it is latched in the interrupt register and if trigger an IRQ if interrupts aren't disabled. Of course, that might cause problems for normal DOS operation if it can't handle unexpected IRQs. Thanks for any pointers. |
