The track gap area, perhaps? There's usually junk in the write splice that comes through as illegal GCR, and with no sync mark at the start of track the framing is likely to be off. If you know the start of the track (after the repeating bytes in the write splice area) and the track length (up to the beginning of the repeating bytes again) and read in just this data, does it still wind up misframed at the end? |
